ABB helped Shanghai Luojing port become the world's first intelligent fully automatic bulk cargo terminal. On November 26th, 2007, abb, the world's leading power and automation technology group, announced that after more than a year of efforts, it had recently completed the Shanghai Luojing port fully automatic bulk cargo terminal project. ABB's locally customized automation solutions have helped Luojing port become the world's first automated bulk cargo terminal, with an annual handling capacity of 37.8 million tons

In 2006, China's port throughput reached 5.6 billion tons, ranking first in the world for four consecutive years. With the continuous development of China's foreign trade, the transportation demand for bulk cargoes such as coal, oil, minerals, grain and liquefied gas is increasing day by day. Ports have become an important strategic resource to support China's economic development and participate in the process of global economic integration

Mr. baoqifan, vice president of Shanghai international port (Group) Co., Ltd., pointed out: "ABB has demonstrated a high level of professionalism in the construction of Shanghai port and the most complex and difficult projects, and has proved that it is a respected and trusted partner." He said, "among the dozens of projects that have been successfully completed, the most noteworthy one is the construction of Luojing port area of Shanghai port. ABB has provided an electrical control system for the front loading and unloading equipment and yard operation equipment of the terminal, realizing the full-automatic operation of material unloading, stacking and loading. This is the first intelligent full-automatic bulk cargo terminal in the world, fully realizing ABB's technical strength and innovation spirit."

"we are very proud that ABB's newly developed unmanned automation technology can be applied to the construction of the world's first fully automated bulk cargo terminal," said Mr. Boke, head of ABB's process automation business department in China and North Asia. "This is also the first time ABB has provided a comprehensive unmanned automation control solution for bulk terminals."

according to the contract, abb provided the electric control system including design, motor, transmission, PLC and other electrical and automation equipment. The ship unloader equipped with abb laser scanning such as train wheels and rails will become the first fully automatic ship unloader in the world. The accuracy of ABB laser scanning technology is much higher than that of manual operation, which can effectively avoid the potential dangers caused by the driver's limited perspective and personnel fatigue. In addition, through the automation system with remote monitoring function, the staff can uniformly manage the loading and unloading conditions and logistics conditions in the central control room of the port, so as to achieve the purpose of optimized operation and comprehensive coordination

ABB crane and port business has branches all over the world to provide electric control systems, products and automatic terminal solutions for lifting equipment in container terminals, bulk cargo terminals, power plants, steel mills and shipyards. At the same time, all kinds of systems provided by ABB enjoy the technical assistance provided by its technical service centers around the world
